Mark Wahlberg unveils his 4 am fitness routine, revealing why he starts with an ice bath before intense workouts and protein mealsImage credit: Instagram/@markwahlberg Mark Wahlberg recently launched a new YouTube series, “4AM Club Challenge” revealing insights from his “intense” 4 am fitness routine.There he welcomes fitness content creators into his gym who showcase their routines that comprises a number of intense exercises.The 55-year-old actor, well known for his roles in The Departed, Ted and The Other Guys, kept a record of his early morning workouts on his Instagram previously as well.According to Men’s Health, the actor admitted, “This is not a normal workout,” considering his routine that featured in the new series.“It’s early, it’s intense, and it’s a game. We train, we laugh, we learn a few things about each other, and we find out who’s really built for it.”His first video was with YouTube star Brent Rivera, where Wahlberg mentioned that before starting his morning workout, he takes a three-minute ice bath to get muscles ready.While talking about taking the ice bath he said, “By the time I get in there now. I feel ready to go. I get out of the ice bath, all the soreness, all the aches and pains are gone. You got energy and dopamine that lasts for hours.”“I used to get up. I’d wake up in the morning, and it would take me, I don’t know, about 30 to 40 minutes to start loosening up,” he shared as reported by People.He reflected that he works out five days a week, mentioning, Thursday is his leg day, so it goes a little heavier and a little harder.The main aim of starting his workout this early is because he wants “to get as much done as possible” before picking up his kids or engaging himself in some other activities.Wahlberg made headlines in 2018 by sharing his daily morning routine on a fan’s request, which included him waking up at 2:30 a.m. It unveiled his early morning routine for the whole day.It started at 2:30 am when he woke up. Then at 2:45 am he prayed followed by a 3:15am breakfast.His breakfast mainly consisted of two hard boiled eggs and three scrambled eggs, accompanied by smoked salmon and some Greek yogurt and berries as he mentioned in a video by Men’s Health in 2024.3:40 to 5:15 am is the time when the actor performed rigorous workouts, as he had posted videos of himself doing reverse lunges, vertical presses and overhead presses for weight training and 5:30 am was his post-workout meal.As CNBC reported, he also detailed everything else he preferred to have in a day: “At 8 o’clock, I have about 10 turkey meatballs. At 10:30, I have a grilled chicken salad with two hard-boiled eggs, olive, avocado, cucumber, tomato, lettuce. And then at 1 o’clock I have a New York steak with green peppers. Then at 3:30 I have grilled chicken. Then at 5:30, 6 o’clock, I have a beautiful piece of halibut or a cod or sea bass. Some sort of white fish.”The busy man takes care of a number of things as he is a father of four; Ella, Michael, Brendan, Grace, a successful actor, entrepreneur, and co-founder of a workout supplement company. The fitness freak during his video with Rivera, shared a piece of advice for people wanting to gain muscle.“I’ve been trying to get my legs to grow forever. You see why I’m wearing the short shorts? ‘Cause you gotta look at it,” he said. “If you’re efficient somewhere, you gotta look at it every day.”
