One week after finishing runner-up at the Saskatchewan Junior Women’s Championship, Kyle’s Chloe Wills has qualified for the Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship with a third-place finish at the Saskatchewan Amateur Championship in Kenosee.
Representing Sask Landing Golf Resort, Wills carded her best round of the three-day tournament Thursday, shooting a three-over 76 with four birdies to finish at 17-over, two shots behind champion Grace Odnokon of Saskatoon. The top three finishers advanced to the Canadian Women’s Amateur Championship, scheduled for July 21 to 24 at Toronto Golf Club.
Wills secures national berth
Wills, who won the Saskatchewan Amateur Championship last year in Humboldt, opened this year’s tournament with a nine-over 82 before improving to a five-over 78 in the second round.
Her closing-round 76 secured a return trip to the national championship.

Bailey, Schmiess finish even par
Elmwood Golf Club’s Corey Bailey shot a two-under 70 in the final round to finish the championship at even par, tying for 12th overall and placing sixth in the Mid-Am Men’s 25-plus division.
Bailey birdied the opening and closing holes of his final round while making par on the other 16 holes. He finished five shots behind champion Connor Scissons after rounds of 72, 74 and 70.
Bailey qualified for last year’s Canadian Men’s Amateur Championship after finishing second at the Saskatchewan Amateur.
Swift Current’s Matty Schmiess also finished at even par, tying Bailey for 12th after a final-round two-under 70 that included three birdies. He opened the tournament with consecutive rounds of 73.
Elmwood Golf Club’s Makstr McIntyre finished 58th at 17-over after rounds of 76, 82 and 75, while Sask Landing Golf Resort’s Jace Wills placed 78th at 27-over with rounds of 86, 78 and 79.
