A decisive semifinal left one local favorite short of the title match. Tomorrow the Iasi Open final will feature Mayar Sherif against the winner of Badosa Hilbert and Zidansek.

In the Romanian city of Iași, the clay-court tournament of the Women’s Tennis Association (WTA 250) UniCredit Iași Open is underway with a prize pool of about $250,000.

The 25-year-old Ukrainian Oleksandra Oliynykova (No. 52 in the WTA rankings) lost in the semifinals to Egypt’s Mayar Sherif (No. 97) with a score of 3-6, 1-6.

Oliynykova played her second WTA semifinal and again failed to reach the final.

In the Iași tournament final, Sherif on July 19 will face the winner of the match between Spain’s Paula Badosa Hilbert (No. 115) and Slovenia’s Tamara Zidanšek (No. 148).
