Canada’s largest Bollywood nightlife brand is bringing the first-ever South Asian music festival to Toronto. Featuring a lineup of more than 15 artists across three distinct genres, full access to the event will cost just $49.

On Sept. 12, The Desi Troop’s Soundwave Music Festival will transform Downsview Park (70 Canuck Ave., North York) into a massive open-air dance party blending Electronic Dance Music (EDM), House, and Bollywood beats. Gates to the festival open at 2 p.m., and the music runs straight through until 11 p.m.

“From nostalgic singalongs to heart-racing drops, every stage brings a new feeling, a new crowd, and a new reason to stay just a little longer,” organizers say.

A blend of nostalgic beats and pumping bass: The Soundwave Music Festival

The Soundwave Music Festival blends the nostalgic sounds of a South Asian childhood with high-energy modern bass. According to organizers, it is an experience “built for the diaspora that grew up between two soundtracks.”

You can expect world-class production alongside a hand-picked lineup of Bollywood chart-toppers and crowd-commanding DJs. The current roster includes Basspatch (EDM), Aarmash (Indo House), Bia (House), Valedora (Techno), Dameer (Bangla House), Remy (EDM), Vodka (Open Format), Exo (House), and Zaen (EDM), with even more acts to be announced soon.

Tickets are available online with a $49 general admission ticket covering the complete festival experience. That includes access to all performance, food, and activity zones. For those looking to upgrade, VIP tickets are available for $89, offering front-of-line bypass, access to a dedicated VIP bar, and exclusive perks.

The origins of the Soundwave Music Festival

Soundwave grew out of a desire to create a true sense of belonging. The journey began in Ottawa, when The Desi Troop was founded out of a simple frustration: “There was nowhere for the South Asian community to hear the music they loved, in a space that felt like it was built for them,” the brand explains.

The very first event sold out instantly, sparking a rapid expansion. With every party hosted, the audience grew. Five years later, the brand now operates across six Canadian cities with the country’s most vibrant South Asian communities.
