A 29-year-old man is in custody after an early morning stabbing in Montreal’s Plateau-Mont-Royal borough left a 26-year-old man with serious injuries, police said.
Montreal police (SPVM) said the victim is now out of danger after being taken to hospital.

Police responded at about 3:20 a.m. to a 911 call reporting an injured person near the intersection of Berri Street and Mont-Royal Avenue.
According to preliminary information, an altercation involving several people broke out after a conflict escalated. During the incident, a suspect allegedly stabbed the 26-year-old victim in the upper body with a bladed weapon.
The victim was taken to hospital with significant injuries. Police said his condition is no longer considered life-threatening.
A 29-year-old suspect was arrested a short distance from the scene and taken to a detention centre, where he is expected to be interviewed by investigators.
Investigators and forensic identification technicians examined the scene overnight. Police said the crime scene has since been reopened.
