The Surrey & White Rock Board of Trade (SWRBOT) welcomes the Government of Canada’s decision to advance the Roberts Bank Terminal 2 Project through the Major Projects Office as part of the new Port of Vancouver Gateway Strategy.
In a statement issued on Friday, SWRBOT says the announcement on July 16 marks an important step toward delivering critical trade infrastructure that will strengthen Canada’s long-term economic competitiveness.
A long-time advocate for the RBT2 Project, SWRBOT has consistently called for strategic investments that expand Canada’s trade capacity, improve supply chain resilience, and support the efficient movement of goods through the region.
SWRBOT says for Surrey and the south of Fraser region, this project is particularly significant.
The region is home to a growing number of manufacturers, importers, exporters, logistics providers, and distribution centres that depend on reliable access to Canada’s largest port. Expanding trade infrastructure will strengthen supply chains, support business growth, attract investment, and reinforce the region’s role as a key transportation and logistics hub.

Following more than a decade of environmental assessment, regulatory review, including extensive consultation with Indigenous Nations, the project has received federal environmental approval subject to legally binding conditions.
