A man in his 50s died Sunday night after he was struck by a car as he crossed Sherbrooke St. E. near Viau St. in Montreal’s east end.
Montreal police said the incident occurred at a little after 10 p.m.
The man was moving south on Sherbrooke St. in a sector not designated for pedestrian crossing when he was struck by the car, which was travelling east on Sherbrooke St., according to police.
The man was declared dead at the scene and the driver of the car had to be treated for nervous shock.
Police will examine local surveillance cameras to determine the circumstances leading up to the incident. Police spokesperson Raphaël Bergeron said that for the time being, there was no indication of any criminal element involved in the incident.
