NORTH WILKESBORO, N.C. — Ford Racing capped a perfect weekend at North Wilkesboro Speedway on Sunday night when Joey Logano’s victory in the NASCAR Cup Series completed a sweep of the facility’s major NASCAR races.
One day after Chandler Smith delivered a win for Ford in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series FaithFest 250, Logano followed with a victory in the Window World 450 for Team Penske.
The win carried historic significance beyond the checkered flag.
Logano’s triumph marked the 751st NASCAR Cup Series victory for Ford and the 400th NASCAR national series points-race victory for Roush Yates Engines across NASCAR’s top three divisions.
The victory was also Logano’s 36th Cup Series win with Ford, moving him into sole possession of third place on the manufacturer’s all-time wins list.
“To earn our 400th NASCAR Cup Series points win is an incredible accomplishment,” Roush Yates Engines President and CEO Doug Yates said. “It’s a testament to the dedication of everyone at Roush Yates Engines, Ford Racing and our race teams over the years.”
Ford placed four drivers inside the top 10 Sunday’s race, led by Logano. Brad Keselowski finished seventh, Todd Gilliland eighth and Ryan Preece 10th.
With consecutive Cup Series victories from Ryan Blaney at Atlanta and Logano at North Wilkesboro, Ford heads to next week’s Brickyard 400 at Indianapolis Motor Speedway seeking a third straight win.
