RCMP in North Vancouver say they are responding to a “serious incident” at the Westview Plaza shopping centre on Tuesday afternoon.
In a social media post shortly after 2:30 p.m. PT, police urged the public to avoid the area.
Jackie Patton, who lives nearby, told CBC News she was having lunch when she heard multiple police sirens rush into the plaza.
She said about a minute later, she heard three shots.
An Esso gas station and McDonald’s restaurant are behind police tape, and the entrance to the plaza parking lot is closed as of 4 p.m. PT.
Police have not specified the nature of the call, but said that the plaza off Highway 1 at Westview Drive was closed as officers investigated.
