Ben Stiller is a comedy legend, known for films like There’s Something About Mary, Zoolander, Tropic Thunder, and the Meet the Parents series. And now, his latest Apple TV sports comedy is a global streaming hit.

Per FlixPatrol, The Dink is currently the No. 1 most-watched movie on Apple TV in the United States, Bahamas, and Canada. The sports comedy is also trending in countries like Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Mexico, Panama, and more. The Dink is an Apple original and debuted on Apple TV on July 24, 2026.

What Is The Dink About?

The Dink is a sports comedy about pickleball. The film stars New Girl’s Jake Johnson as a former tennis prodigy, Dusty Boyd, who is now coaching kids at his father’s country club. But soon, the pickleball craze takes over the club, and Dusty takes his father’s side, who is against it. That is, until Dusty is injured.

To get back into the game, Dusty’s doctor, Dr. Stone (Ben Stiller), tells Dusty he should play pickleball as part of his rehabilitation. And even though he’s against it, Dusty starts to enjoy the game and becomes close to the people he meets, putting him at odds with his father. Jake Johnson and Ben Stiller star in and produced The Dink.

Alongside Johnson and Stiller, the sports comedy stars Mary Steenburgen as Candace, a pickleball player, and Ed Harris as Chuck Boyd, Dusty’s father. The Dink also stars Chloe Fineman, Patton Oswalt, Aaron Chen, Martin Kove, Chris Parnell, Christine Taylor, John McEnroe, Andy Roddick, and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia’s Lynne Marie Stewart in her last film role.

The Dink Received Positive Reviews from Critics

Even though The Dink was just released, it already received positive reviews from critics. On Rotten Tomatoes, the sports comedy currently holds a Certified Fresh 73% Tomatometer score based on critics’ reviews. Travis Hopson from Punch Drunk Critics said, “This one’s a winner, and might even convince you to give the game a try yourself.”

Peter Travers from The Travers Take gave it a 2.5 out of 4, saying, “There’s nothing hard-charging about this sports comedy placebo from producer-star Ben Stiller. It’s easy, breezy and light on its feet, and who says that on a lazy summer night a dink can’t win the game.” However, not all reviews were positive.

Alissa Wilkinson from the New York Times said, “The Dink has its moments, but they never completely cohere, and the movie struggles to maintain a consistent tone.” Meanwhile, Mark Keizer from MovieWeb wrote, “Brief moments suggest what The Dink might have been but decided not to be, trading on likability more than sharp humor or outrageous gags.”

The Dink is a recently released film, so the ratings might change as more reviews come in. But there’s no denying that the sports comedy is already a hit on streaming, reaching the No. 1 spot in multiple countries on the day of release.
