MASON, Ohio — A man working as an intern at the Cincinnati Open pro tennis tournament died after falling from a motorized cart, reports say.

WLWT Channel 5 reports the fall occurred at about 11 p.m. Monday at the Lindner Family Tennis Center after the tournament’s final matches had concluded. The fall occurred near a loading dock, the Cincinnati Enquirer reports.

According to WLWT, police confirmed the identity of the victim as Joshua Darst. The age of Darst has not been reported. A pastor who knows Darst tells WLWT the victim was a student and baseball player at Cornerstone University in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

“We are devastated by the tragic accident that took the life of one of our interns and valued team members,” tournament officials said in a statement to the Enquirer. “This loss is deeply felt by our entire organization. Our hearts, thoughts, and deepest sympathies are with his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him.”

Reports say the Mason Police Department is investigating the incident.
