An early-morning police chase on Highway 40 Sunday saw three people — including two minors — arrested in St-Michel, while one person remained at large as of Sunday afternoon after allegedly fleeing on foot.
The Sûreté du Québec said a vehicle did not pull over after officers attempted to stop it for traffic code violations on Hymus Blvd. in the West Island around 3 a.m.
“After activating the sirens and flashing lights, the driver refused to stop and fled, which set off a police chase,” SQ spokesperson Élizabeth Marquis said.
The SQ called in a police helicopter, she said, and were assisted by Montreal police.
The vehicle’s four occupants eventually abandoned the car, Marquis said, fleeing police on foot.
Three of the four were caught in St-Michel near 24th Ave.
A man in his 20s has been arrested and is expected to appear in court. The other two are minors, Marquis said; they were taken to a police station for questioning and were subsequently released, but could face charges.
Possible charges for the trio include dangerous driving, fleeing police, obstruction of a peace officer, breach of condition and possession of prohibited weapons, she said.
Police have not caught the fourth occupant of the vehicle, Marquis said. No injuries resulted from the incident, she added.
