A 53-year-old man was recovering in hospital early Monday after being stabbed Sunday night in the city’s Côte-des-Neiges district.
Montreal police spokesperson Caroline Chèvrefils said a 911 call was received at 10:45 p.m. reporting an injured man at the corner of Victoria and Van Horne Aves.
Officers arriving at the scene found the victim, a 53-year-old man, suffering from at least one stab wound to the upper body. He was taken to a hospital for treatment of injuries that do not threaten his life, Chèvrefils said.
An initial investigation suggests the man was stabbed after a dispute with a second individual degenerated. Police intend to examine local surveillance cameras and seek witnesses to determine the events leading up to the assault.
A canine unit was also deployed at the scene.
Sunday night’s attack was the fourth stabbing recorded in the city in less than 48 hours.
Early Saturday, a 45-year-old man was seriously injured after he was found at about 4 a.m. stabbed in the wake of a dispute near the corner of St-Marc and Ste-Catherine Sts.
Hours later, a 26-year-old woman was found at about 4:45 p.m. on Bleury St. near de la Concorde St. suffering from at least one stab wound. While initially deemed to be in critical condition, she is expected to survive the attack.
And on Sunday morning, an 18-year-old man was found at about 3:50 a.m. near the intersection of Ontario St. and St-Laurent Blvd. suffering from at least one stab wound. He was taken to a hospital with non-life threatening injuries, police said.
As of early Monday, no arrests have been made in any of the incidents.
