WNBA Commissioner Cathy Engelbert said no “discipline will be recommended or imposed” stemming from the league’s investigation into the Aces’ sponsorship agreement with the Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority, according to Doug Feinberg of the AP. The LVCVA reached a deal in May 2024 to pay Aces players $100,000 each, an amount that exceeded the salaries for six of the players, according to Spotrac. The Aces received the sponsorships again in 2025 despite the league probe. No such agreement was offered for this season, but player salaries “also dramatically rose after the new collective-bargaining agreement was completed in May.” The initial offer prompted the league to launch a probe into whether it skirted salary-cap rules (AP, 7/25).
