Look to the skies: the Snowbirds’ are returning to White Rock

White Rock residents and visitors can enjoy a free Canadian Forces Snowbirds aerial demonstration over the city’s waterfront on Aug. 12.
The Snowbirds began flying in 1971, making this year’s performance their 55th anniversary.
A release from the City of White Rock shared the snowbirds will showcase their “exceptional” teamwork and skill with a 45-minute performance beginning at 5:30 p.m.
“The Snowbirds are a true showcase of Canadian pride, and we are incredibly excited to welcome them back to White Rock,” White Rock mayor Megan Knight said in the release. “With the Semiahmoo Bay and our iconic pier as the backdrop, this will be a memorable event for our community. We look forward to seeing everyone come together for this thrilling experience.”
The city noted this will be the end of an era, because after more than five decades of service, this may be one of the last opportunities to witness the Canadiar CT-114 Tutor Jets being used by the 431 Air Demonstrations Team (The Snowbirds).
This is because the Snowbirds are set to transition away from the Canadiar CT-114 Tutor Jets and instead will be flying new CT-157 Siskin ll aircrafts by the 2030 season, the release shared.
Event attendees are encouraged to walk, cycle, carpool or take transit to this free waterfront showcase.
