Lupe Pintor Honored During WBC Tuesday Coffee

Legendary former world champion Lupe Pintor was honored during this week’s WBC  Martes de Café  in recognition of his outstanding career and lasting legacy in the sport of boxing.

As part of the tribute, WBC President Mauricio Sulaimán presented Pintor with a commemorative plaque, recognizing his remarkable achievements and contributions to the history of the World Boxing Council.

A special tribute video was shown, highlighting the defining moments of his career, including his unforgettable victory over Carlos Zárate to capture the WBC bantamweight world title in one of the most memorable all-Mexican championship bouts in boxing history.

Visibly moved by the recognition, Pintor expressed his gratitude and happiness.

“I am very happy and deeply grateful to the WBC for giving me the opportunity to become a world champion,” said the legendary Mexican champion.

The ceremony was attended by fellow boxing greats Pipino Cuevas, Carlos Zárate, Daniel Zaragoza, and Humberto “Chiquita” González, who joined in celebrating Pintor’s extraordinary career.

Through this tribute, the WBC once again reaffirmed its commitment to honoring the champions whose accomplishments have helped shape the history of boxing.
