There has been a lot of speculation about Alberto Del Rio possibly going back to WWE after his AAA exit. It now appears that several big names like Roman Reigns and The Undertaker are also advocating for Del Rio’s WWE return.

While speaking on Lucha Libre Online, Hugo Savinovich said that many people in WWE want Alberto Del Rio to return. He stated that Roman Reigns wants him back and explained that this is not about one big star keeping him out, but about many top names believing Alberto has worked hard and deserves another chance. Savinovich said Alberto has been away for almost four years, and in that time he has shown he is ready.

“And now let me touch briefly on Alberto. I told you yesterday I’d talk about this. Knowing that important people like Roman Reigns want Alberto back. The problem isn’t a big star telling the office, “I don’t want Alberto here.” No—when a big star and other big stars say, “You know what? Alberto deserves to come back because he’s proven himself.”

Savinovich said that at Triplemania, when Rey Mysterio inducted Konnan into the AAA Hall of Fame, the crowd started chanting for Alberto. Rey could have ignored it, but instead he spoke about Alberto because he truly wants him back. Savinovich said that moment proved Alberto still has strong respect from fans and wrestlers.

“This isn’t about one month or two months. We’re talking almost four years now. Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre saw the segment where Rey Mysterio inducted Konnan into the Hall of Fame—people wouldn’t stop chanting. Rey Mysterio said, “I’ll bring him out right now.” He said it. I know Rey Mysterio. He could’ve done anything else, but he chose to say, “I’ll bring him right now.” Because in his heart, Rey wants Alberto back.”

Hugo says the support doesn’t stop with Rey. Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, Cody Rhodes, the Samoan family, and others also want him back. The Undertaker, who is now more involved in WWE creative, is ready to help rebuild Alberto’s character. Konnan, Savio Vega, and other legends have spoken in his favor as well.

“But knowing that Roman Reigns respects him, and that stars like Cody Rhodes, Drew McIntyre, the whole Samoan clan, Rey Mysterio—they all want him back—that says a lot. But now, with Undertaker heavily involved in creative, and knowing he, like Roman, wants Alberto back—Undertaker is ready to use his creative mind to elevate Alberto’s character. With Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, the Samoans, Rey Mysterio, Undertaker, Konnan, Savio Vega—all backing Alberto—it’s clear.”

According to Savinovich, Roman Reigns understands Alberto’s cultural ties. He said the Samoan culture, like Puerto Rican culture, values family, loyalty, and respect. When they call you a brother, it means forever. Savinovich explained that the Samoan family, including the Usos and Roman, see Alberto as one of their own, and for them bringing him back is about fairness.

Savinovich said that with so many stars like Roman Reigns, Drew McIntyre, the Samoan family, Rey Mysterio, The Undertaker, Konnan, Savio Vega, and more all asking for Alberto’s return, the message is clear: WWE needs Alberto, and Alberto needs WWE.

“Roman Reigns doesn’t just see Alberto’s history but also understands his cultural ties. The Samoan culture, like Puerto Ricans and other islanders, is about family, tradition, respect. When they call you brother or sister, it’s for life. And the Samoans—Usos, Roman Reigns—they want Alberto back. Why? Because it’s about justice. Nobody is perfect but God.

And in the middle of all this, Roman Reigns wants Alberto back. That’s why legends like Undertaker, Roman Reigns, Rey Mysterio, and yes, myself, are saying it: WWE needs Alberto, and Alberto needs WWE.

While Del Rio’s future in WWE hasn’t been confirmed, it’s clear there’s interest behind the scenes. We had then reported that there are no plans for Del Rio to go to the U.S., but that could change, especially since so many big names are in support of bringing him back. So we’ll have to see if Del Rio does make his return somewhere down the line.
