Two games of WNBA action are on today’s Wednesday slate.
Tipping off at 8:10 p.m. ET, the Atlanta Dream will take on the Dallas Wings. Two hours later, the action will travel to the West Coast in a matchup between the Golden State Valkyries and Phoenix Mercury. The All-Star break has passed, and the full playoff push is on as the league’s hierarchy continues to take shape.

Paige Bueckers Over 20.5 Points (-116)
Paige Bueckers has played herself into one of the clear top talents in the WNBA and has the stats to back it up. The former first-overall pick is averaging 20.9 points, 6.2 assists, and 4.2 rebounds in her second season as a pro. Bueckers has tallied over 20.5 points in 14 of her 25 games played this season, including four straight and nine of her last 10.
This is a tough matchup against the Atlanta Dream defense. Atlanta ranks fourth in opponent points per game and fourth in defensive rating. However, the Dream are giving up 90.8 points per game over their last five, well above their season-long average of 85.3, and the high-powered Wings attack should look favorably upon this. Dallas is averaging 90.2 points per game this season and 98.6 per game over its past five matchups. Atlanta’s defensive metrics are also a bit strange, as the club ranks dead last in opponent field goal percentage and last in opponent three-point percentage. If Bueckers and the Wings get enough volume of opportunities, they will have success.
Bueckers is on a roll, while this Dream defense is fading. Expect the Wings to take it to this slipping defense and for their star to be at the center of it all. Bueckers is averaging 15.5 field goal attempts per game on the season and has exceeded this number of attempts in eight of her last 11 games played. Dallas is firmly in the playoff mix and playing a high level of basketball of late. The group lost both games to the Dream in the early stages of the season, but each took place in their first six games. Both these teams are in different places since this point, and I expect the outlook to change in this matchup with Bueckers at the heart of it. Back the Wings’ star to record over 20.5 points for the 10th time in her past 11 games played.
Angel Reese Over 27.5 Points & Rebounds (-109)
On the other side of the matchup, Angel Reese is in a spot where she can add to her strong season stats as well. The three-time All-Star has settled in with this Atlanta team, posting averages of 15.4 points and 11.5 rebounds per game on the season. Reese has tallied over 27.5 combined points and rebounds in 11 games this year, including four of her past five. She finished with 15 points and nine rebounds (24 combined points and rebounds) and 12 points and 16 rebounds (28 combined points and rebounds) during the two previous matchups with the Wings.
Dallas leans primarily on its guards for production and is a bit vulnerable on the interior. The Wings rank 10th in opponent rebounds per game allowed, while Atlanta ranks first in offensive rebounds per game, first in opponent offensive rebounds allowed, and first in opponent total rebounds allowed. The Dream out-rebounded the Wings 44-34 in the first matchup and 35-26 in the second game between these two sides this season.
Expect Reese to be front and center of this rebounding battle and attack the offensive glass for easy putback opportunities. The two-time rebounding champion has averaged as many as 13.1 rebounds per game in her career and is averaging 16.1 points and 11.2 rebounds per game across her past 13 games. Count on Reese to assert herself on the interior tonight with the favorable matchup in mind and play her way to over 27.5 combined points and rebounds for the fifth time in her past six games played.
Janelle Salaun to Record 3+ Made Three-Pointers (+118)
In the late slate, I am backing Janelle Salaun to record 3+ three-pointers during the Valkyries’ matchup with the Mercury. The three-point battle is a major part of the outlook for every matchup for Golden State, and Salaun is one of the headlining players in this area of the floor. The Valkyries lead the WNBA with 30.5 three-point attempts per game offensively, while limiting opponents to the third-fewest three-point attempts. This is especially notable as they face a Mercury team that ranks 10th in three-point volume offensively, 11th in opponent three-point attempts allowed, and last in opponent three-point makes per game.
Despite continuing to come off the bench, Salaun has grown into a star on this Valkyries team. The 24-year-old is posting averages of 12.8 points and 4.0 rebounds, shooting 39.4% from beyond the three-point arc on 6.4 perimeter attempts per game. She leads the team in three-point volume and is connecting at the highest percentage among all players with 36+ perimeter shots on the season. Salaun is averaging 2.5 made three-pointers per game and has tallied three or more made perimeter shots in 12 games this year. She also shot 6-for-10 from deep in the two matchups with the Mercury so far this season.
Expect this to be a night in which the Valkyries make it a clear priority to attack from the perimeter, with this being their primary style and the matchup playing to this favor. Salaun will be tasked with plenty of this responsibility, so expect her to deliver against the team allowing more three-point makes than any other team in the WNBA.
