NASCAR and iRacing Studios are raising expectations for racing game fans with the launch of NASCAR 26, a title that introduces the franchise’s most significant gameplay overhaul to date.

Scheduled for release Sept. 18 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, NASCAR 26 builds on the momentum generated by NASCAR 25 while adding several features designed to more closely replicate the real-world racing experience.

At the center of the update is Dynamic Track Technology, a new system that allows track conditions to evolve throughout a race weekend. As rubber builds up, temperatures change and racing lines develop, players will be forced to adapt in the same way NASCAR drivers and teams do each weekend.

“The improvements we’ve made to the driving model, the new modes we’ve added… it’s all rooted in one of the founding principles of iRacing; leading with an authentic experience for our fans,” said Matt Lewis, vice president and senior producer at iRacing Studios.

The game also introduces cross-platform multiplayer, allowing players on PlayStation, Xbox and PC to compete against one another for the first time. Additional enhancements include a revised tire and braking model, improved artificial intelligence, a new Chase mode, expanded career mode options and a dedicated Peak Performance training feature.

Real-world NASCAR star Kyle Larson serves as the game’s cover athlete, while all four NASCAR national development series will again be featured, including the NASCAR Cup Series, NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series, NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and ARCA Menards Series.

Players will also see new content ranging from burn-out celebrations and trophy rooms to additional tracks such as Chicagoland Speedway, St. Petersburg and the Qualcomm Circuit at Naval Base Coronado.

For NASCAR, the launch continues a broader strategy of using gaming and esports to engage younger audiences and deepen fan interaction with the sport beyond race weekends.

“Our fans told us they wanted iRacing Studios to build the next NASCAR console game,” said NASCAR Vice President of Interactive & Emerging Platforms Nick Rend. “NASCAR 26 takes another meaningful step forward.”

With pre-orders now available and early access beginning Sept. 15 for Gold Edition purchasers, NASCAR 26 represents the sport’s latest effort to bridge the gap between simulation and entertainment while delivering what developers hope will be the most realistic NASCAR console game to date.
