The province’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) says it’s investigating the death of a 35-year-old man after he fell from a Mississauga condo unit Wednesday.
In a news release Thursday, the SIU said it is invoking its mandate because Peel police officers were at the scene when the man died.
Officers responded to a call of a man in distress at a condo building near Eglinton Avenue W. and Hurontario Street at around 10 a.m. Wednesday, the release said.
They then entered the man’s unit and “attempted to negotiate,” according to the release.
The SIU said the man ended up falling from a “high floor to the ground below” and was pronounced dead after being taken to hospital.
