GLASGOW — Former Olympic champion Damian Warner is hanging on to a slim lead halfway through the men’s decathlon at the Commonwealth Games.
Warner topped the standings with 4,353 points, just 14 clear of India’s Tejaswin Shankar, after five events Thursday
The 36-year-old from London, Ont., finished first in the 100 metres in 10.21 seconds, second in the long jump at 7.77 metres and fifth in the shot put at 13.84 metres. He then placed third in the high jump at 1.97 metres and fifth the 400-metre race.
The decathlon competition wraps Friday with the 110-metre hurdles, discus, pole vault, javelin, and the 1,500 metres.
