Drivers heading into Calgary in August could encounter photo radar vehicles in 16 communities across the city.

Calgary police said enforcement will focus on Beltline, Brentwood, Charleswood, Dover, Edgemont, Forest Lawn, Falconridge, Harvest Hills, Hidden Valley, Inglewood, Lakeview, Monterey Park, Shawnessy, Skyview Ranch, Taradale and Windsor Park.
Photo radar also attending construction zones
Photo radar vehicles will also attend construction zones where workers are present.
Speeding fines are based on how far above the posted limit a vehicle is travelling.
Speeds more than 50 kilometres per hour over the limit result in an appearance before a judge.
Calgary has 57 intersection camera sites
There are 57 intersection safety camera sites throughout Calgary that can capture red-light infractions.
Five of those sites can also capture speed-on-green infractions.
Police said the cameras continue to reduce collisions and foster a safer driving environment at intersections.
Calgary police said they continue to work with the City of Calgary to implement the Safer Mobility Plan, with the common goal of Vision Zero — mobility free of fatalities and major injuries.
Fatal collisions involving excessive speed reached five-year high
Separately, Calgary recorded 14 fatal collisions involving excessive speed in 2025, its highest total in five years, according to police data cited by the Alberta Motor Association.
