Caitlin Clark recorded the fourth triple-double of her WNBA career as she helped the Indiana Fever beat the Portland Fire on Friday (31 July).
The Team USA basketball superstar finished with 26 points, 10 rebounds, 10 assists, two steals and one block in her side’s 112-98 victory on the road.
Clark, 24, now has the third-most triple-doubles in WNBA history, tied with Sabrina Ionescu. Only Alyssa Thomas (20) and Jessica Shepard (5) have more.
“It was a really, really impressive effort from her tonight,” said Fever head coach Stephanie White.
“I didn’t even recognize (she had a triple-double) until we got in the locker room. She can do all of those things.
“She’s always scoring and finding her open teammates. I think the area that she’s continuing to get better in for us now is the defensive rebounding.”
During the match, Clark – who only returned to court last month following a back injury – also became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 1,500 career points and 650 assists.
By accomplishing the feat in 78 games, she comfortably surpassed Sue Bird’s mark of 116 games.
Clark now has 1,524 points and 651 assists across her career.
The Fever’s win over the Fire was their fifth straight victory, with Kelsey Mitchell also matching Clark’s tally of 26 points. They are now fourth in the WNBA.
