Portion of Fraser Highway in Surrey to close for SkyTrain construction

A portion of Fraser Highway that was closed for eight months last year will be closed again for five weeks starting late on Aug. 3 for SkyTrain construction.
Fraser Highway between 140 Street and 96 Avenue will close at 10 p.m. on Aug. 3 until Sept. 7. After that, there will be overnight closures from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., including on holidays and weekends, until Dec. 20.
The closures are needed to deliver and lift “large components” of the future SkyTrain guideway, according to a news release from Surrey Langley SkyTrain on July 24.
Motorists will be diverted along 96 Ave during the closures.
During the previous closures, crews continued building the Green Timbers SkyTrain station and installing the elevated guideway along Fraser Highway.
The new Green Timbers station will be located at 140 Street and Fraser Highway, on the west edge of Green Timbers Urban Forest, near Jim Pattison Outpatient Care and Surgery Centre, the BC RCMP E-Divisional Headquarters and Surrey Memorial Hospital.
The Surrey Langley SkyTrain project will extend the Expo Line 16 kilometres, primarily along Fraser Highway from King George Station in Surrey to 203 Street in Langley.
