Police say a a severely damaged boat was found resting on a rock ledge; search efforts continue today for two individuals believed to have been on board

Two people aboard a boat that crashed in Lake Rosseau are missing.

The crash occurred Friday night at 10:40 p.m. near Backenrig Bay.

“Emergency crews attended the scene and located a severely damaged vessel resting on a rock ledge,” notes a media release from the OPP.

Two individuals believed to have been aboard were missing.

“Extensive search efforts were immediately initiated; however, neither individual was located at the scene or in the surrounding area,” says the release.

The OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit (USRU) has been deployed and is assisting with search efforts on the water.

The investigation remains ongoing as emergency responders work to determine the circumstances surrounding the collision and locate the vessel’s occupants.

“Members of the public are asked to avoid the area and allow emergency responders to safely and thoroughly conduct their search operations,” says the release.
