Canadians are being urged to check their cupboards after a nationwide recall was issued for certain Hershey’s Kisses Creamy Milk Chocolate products sold across the country.

The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) says the recall affects specific 104-gram and 200-gram packages of Hershey’s Kisses with a best before date of June 1, 2027.

According to the CFIA, the products are being recalled because they may contain undeclared almonds, posing a serious health risk to anyone with an almond allergy or sensitivity.

The agency says there has been one reported allergic reaction associated with the consumption of the recalled products.

What consumers should do

The CFIA advises consumers to:

Check whether they have any of the recalled products.
Do not consume the products if they are allergic or sensitive to almonds, as they could cause a serious or life-threatening reaction.
Do not serve, use, sell or distribute the recalled candy.
Throw the products away or return them to the retailer where they were purchased.

The recall was triggered by Hershey Canada Inc. The CFIA says it is conducting a food safety investigation that could lead to additional product recalls and is verifying that the affected candy is being removed from the marketplace.

The recall has been classified as a Class 1 recall, the highest level issued by the CFIA, indicating there is a reasonable probability that exposure to the product could result in serious or life-threatening health consequences for people with an almond allergy.
