NEWTON, Iowa (WCYB) — The NASCAR Cup Series is four races away from setting the 16 drivers that will have a chance to compete for a championship.

But while some drivers like Denny Hamlin and Tyler Reddick are fighting for a regular-season title, other drivers are on the cusp of earning a spot in The Chase.

After Joey Logano claimed a dominant win at North Wilkesboro a few weeks ago, he jumped firmly inside the cut line.

However, Ryan Preece and Erik Jones sit within striking distance of the cut line.

Preece sits 38 points behind Austin Cindric, who is ranked 16th in the standings, while Jones is just eight points behind the No. 60 team.

After a week off, the NASCAR Cup Series will travel to Iowa Speedway on Sunday, Aug. 9.
