Iowa Speedway Presents Key Opportunity for Front Row Motorsports Trio – Speedway Digest

The NASCAR Cup Series returns to Iowa Speedway this weekend with only four races remaining before the Chase, and Front Row Motorsports arrives carrying momentum, opportunity and rising stakes.

The organization’s three-driver lineup enters Sunday’s lone Cup Series stop at the 0.875-mile oval looking to capitalize on recent progress and strengthen positioning ahead of the postseason cutoff.

Leading the way is Todd Gilliland, who returns to competition fresh off one of the biggest moments of his career. The No. 34 driver captured NASCAR’s In-Season Challenge title at Indianapolis Motor Speedway, defeating Ryan Blaney in the final round and earning the $1 million prize. While the accomplishment doesn’t guarantee a playoff berth, it provides a confidence boost as the season enters its most critical stretch.

Gilliland currently sits 23rd in the standings and has shown flashes of speed in recent weeks, including an eighth-place finish at North Wilkesboro Speedway.

Noah Gragson heads to Iowa searching for a breakthrough performance in the No. 4 Long John Silver’s Ford Mustang. Although his Cup Series results at Iowa have been modest, Gragson has demonstrated strong form at the track in NASCAR’s developmental divisions, posting top-six finishes in both of his O’Reilly Auto Parts Series starts there and a runner-up finish in Truck Series competition.

“Iowa has always been a track I’ve enjoyed,” Gragson has noted in previous appearances, making Sunday’s race a potential opportunity to improve on his current 31st-place position in the standings.

Meanwhile, Zane Smith enters the weekend after leading Front Row Motorsports with a 15th-place finish at Indianapolis. The driver of the No. 38 Patriot Mobile Ford has previous success at Iowa in both ARCA and O’Reilly Auto Parts Series competition, recording multiple top-10 finishes before reaching the Cup level.

Smith currently sits 24th in points and is looking to reverse his Cup Series fortunes at Iowa after difficult results during the track’s first two appearances on the modern NASCAR schedule.
