The Ottawa Police Service is looking for a suspect investigators allege stole a bike that was custom-built for an elderly man with Parkinson’s disease.
The bike was taken from a residential driveway in the Alta Vista area between July 12 and 14, according to a police media release.
The service said it was specifically made for an elderly man with advanced Parkinson’s disease.
Police described the suspect as having curly brown hair and wearing a red T-shirt, black pants with patches and black motorcycle-style boots.
He was also carrying a black backpack, the media release said.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Ottawa police or leave an anonymous tip with Crime Stoppers.
Police previously told CBC they encourage people to call 911 if someone is actively trying to steal their bike, but advise them to file a report if a robbery has already been committed.
The service said it also discourages people from conducting their own investigation or confronting suspects following bike thefts.
