It’s unfortunate that the Tone Fitness step is rated to accommodate only up to 200 pounds.
Also, though it feels secure underfoot, the step’s nonskid feet can, in fact, glide around on slick floors with certain moves, I’ve found.
To prevent the step from slipping beneath my feet, such as when I have one foot propped up on it behind or in front of me in a split squat on my vinyl floor, I position it on a grippy yoga mat.
While I wouldn’t have encountered this issue with a heavier, bulkier, and pricier commercial-grade model — The Step, for one, makes a popular fitness step that costs four times as much and can support 350 pounds — I appreciate how seamlessly the compact Tone Fitness step fits into my space and supports the many ways I’ve modified my own workouts over time.
Despite its compact build and portability, my step will never see the darkness of my closet.
