A popular pizza restaurant run by one of the country’s best-known celebrity chefs is opening a brand new outpost in the 905 in the not-too-distant-future.
Maker Pizza, a fast-growing Toronto-based pizza chain co-founded by chef Matty Matheson, will open its second suburban location–its first is in Thornhill–in Mississauga in a little over three weeks.
According to Maker Pizza’s official website, the brand’s newest outpost will open its doors inside the up-and-coming Exchange District, a new residential development in Mississauga’s City Centre neighbourhood.

The restaurant is slated to open, according to a countdown on the website, in 23 days.
The new location was announced earlier this summer.
The restaurant will take shape inside the Exchange Signature Residences, a 31-storey condo that’s close to Square One. While a menu for the Mississauga location has not yet been released, the restaurant is known for serving a variety of slices and pies, including a truffle shuffle, a Frank’s Best pizza with bechemel sauce, a Tropic Thunder pie with chilli-infused pineapple, a cheese pizza and more.
The restaurant also offers chicken wings and garlic fingers.
Matheson has quickly made a name for himself as one of the top chefs in the country. While some of his restaurants have bid Toronto farewell in the past year (the acclaimed Bar Clams closed up shop last year and in January, Cà Phê Rang shuttered its doors), the chef continues to roll out high-profile culinary hotspots.
Matheson, who portrays handyman Neil Fak on The Bear, owns and operates Prime Seafood Palace and Matty’s Patty’s in Toronto and Rizzo’s House of Parm in Fort Erie.
The celebrity chef is also the frontman of the hardcore rock band Pig Pen.
Matheson also boasts a brand new venture in the recently renovated TD Coliseum in Hamilton. The Iron Cow, which can accommodate up to 185 diners, includes a speakeasy-style pub and operates on both event and non-event days.
With the opening inching closer, residents are expressing excitement on social media.
“This can’t be real, am I dreaming?” one poster wrote on Instagram.
Others agreed it was a long time coming.
“I have waited for this moment for too long,” another poster said.
The restaurant will open at 181 City Centre Dr.
