OPP say an officer observed a tractor-trailer braking abruptly, following too closely and forcing another vehicle off the roadway on Highway 17
A commercial motor vehicle driver has been charged with six Highway Traffic Act offences.
On Thursday, August 6, at 3:35 p.m., a member of the East Algoma Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police Crime Unit was travelling eastbound on Highway 17 in the Iron Bridge area when they observed a commercial motor vehicle in front of them being operated in an unsafe manner.
The officer observed the tractor-trailer braking abruptly, following a vehicle too closely, and forcing the vehicle off the roadway.
The officer initiated a traffic stop in the Town of Blind River.
The 26-year-old driver from Brampton was charged with:
Careless driving
Follow too closely
Drive left of centre – on a curve
Drive left of centre – approaching crest of grade
Speeding
Possess more than one licence
The accused is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice-Provincial Offences in Blind River on September 15.
