After much anticipation, Ford has announced Fathom as the name of its upcoming midsize electric truck designed primarily for the U.S. and Canada.
While the company has yet to reveal the design, we already have a fair idea from observing prototypes, and we’ll round up our general expectations from the Ford electric truck in this story.
Our exclusive renderings in the story incorporate details uncovered from test mule sightings, though the final look is still under wraps!
The Ford Fathom appears to sit low and feature a sloping hood. We notice that its A-pillars are pulled farther forward than on a typical pickup truck to maximize aero gains. That said, a more upright nose section and vertical headlights flanked by tall DRLs should give the truck an assertive look.
Ford says it chose a name instead of its usual alphanumeric naming convention to give the model personality and soul, and this classic typography could complement that approach with an emotional connection to the brand’s heritage.

Along with the steeply raked A-pillars and the low roofline, a short glasshouse would give the side profile of the Ford Fathom a sleek look. The electric truck is likely to feature 20-inch alloy wheels in the top trim. We also expect to see marker lights on the front fenders and the taillights extending onto the shoulders.
Debuting the Universal EV Platform, the Ford Fathom is officially expected to offer more passenger volume than a Toyota RAV4. It will feature a frunk, bidirectional charging capability, digital key support, a touchscreen infotainment system with integrated Apple Maps, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto support, and next-generation BlueCruise.

The Ford Fathom will be priced from USD 28,350 in the U.S. and CAD 38,690 (incl. CAD 4,000 federal EVAP incentive) in Canada. Its base configuration will use an LFP battery pack and a single, rear-mounted permanent magnet synchronous motor.
Ford could offer a larger battery pack and an AWD layout enabled by the combination of a high-output permanent magnet synchronous motor at the rear and a low-output induction motor at the front in higher configurations.
The Fathom (rendered) is set to become Ford’s most aerodynamic and futuristic electrified model to date.
The Blue Oval plans to manufacture the Fathom in Louisville, Kentucky, using megacasting techniques. It will start taking pre-orders in early 2027 and should commence deliveries later the same year.
