We love our puzzles, and a corn maze is a favourite puzzle that Manitobans love to try their hand at every summer as we head into the fall season.
Riley Jefferies from Jefferies Seeds has planted his third corn maze right next to the Glenboro Ag grounds. And right next to that is a very special logo that every Canadian would recognize from the air. It’s the logo of Jefferies’ favourite hockey team, and it’s caught the attention of the Winnipeg Jets. Their marketing team came out to Glenboro to take a look at their logo ‘carved’ into a 3-acre portion of a 30-acre field. The drone photos of the corn field and its neighbouring corn maze have been seen by 3.5 thousand followers on the Jets’ social media platforms!
“Yeah, they took some nice footage of it,” says Jefferies. “They actually were nice enough to send me a signed jersey that we might auction off as a fundraiser. So that was nice of them, too!

“It is through technology, that’s right. I didn’t go out there and hand-pull all the plants or anything,” he says with a laugh. “So, as I drive across the field, there’s an image that I’ve made previously in the wintertime, and my planter just shuts rows off and on as needed and creates the picture.”

The Glenboro corn maze is free to the public until harvest time, and will certainly be a highlight during the Glenboro Fair coming up Saturday, August 15th.
For Riley Jefferies, designing the corn maze and the neighbouring logo is just part of the fun. Each is about 3 acres in size in the total 30-acre field.
“It’s something fun. I enjoy doing it. I enjoy planting the field and watching it grow into a picture, and the anticipation of how it’s going to turn out is something different. And if some people can enjoy the maze, that’s great too!”
