One person was taken to hospital in unstable condition after a fire at a high-rise apartment building in Winnipeg’s Centennial neighbourhood early Sunday morning.
Fire crews responded to the building on Elgin Avenue, between Isabel and Sherbrook streets, just after 4:30 a.m. on Sunday, the city said in a news release.
Additional crews were sent to the scene because of elevated safety risks associated with high-rise fires, the release said.
Firefighters saw smoke billowing out when they got there.
Crews attacked the fire and it was under control just after 5:15 a.m.
Paramedics assessed two people, one of whom was taken to hospital in unstable condition, the city said.
The fire is being investigated.
