Human remains identified as 12-year-old from Edmonton, deemed a homicide

A 12-year-old has been identified as the victim after human remains were found in Athabasca.
Athabasca RCMP responded to a report of found human remains on Aug. 6 at 3:26 a.m., Alberta RCMP said in a news release Sunday (Aug. 9).
An autopsy was completed at the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Edmonton on Aug. 7. The death was deemed to be a homicide.
The victim was identified as Fiasal Hussein, a 12-year-old Edmonton resident.
Athabasca is about 150 kilometres north of Edmonton.
Police say the RCMP’s major crimes unit has been called in and has taken over the investigation.
RCMP is now asking for the public’s help with dash-cam footage.
Anyone who was around Highway 813 near Calling Lake or Range Road 213A (referred to as the “C-Road”), on Aug. 6, between midnight and 4:30 a.m., and have dash-cam video, is asked to contact Athabasca RCMP at 780-675-4252.
