Ottawa police are investigating after shots were fired in Manotick on Monday morning following an apparent Facebook Marketplace deal gone wrong.
Police were called to a bank on Beaverwood Road around 10:30 a.m.
Investigators say a seller had arranged to meet a potential buyer through Facebook Marketplace, but the male allegedly pointed a firearm and tried to rob them.
Two shots were fired but no one was struck by gunfire, police said. They said three people including the seller, a security guard and an off-duty police officer took the suspect into custody.
The suspect, whom police said has since been identified as a young offender, sustained minor injuries.
Paramedics told CBC they treated a teenager at the scene for injuries consistent with blunt force trauma. The youth was transported to CHEO in stable condition, paramedics said.
A firearm was recovered, police said in a news release Monday.
Ottawa police said the investigation is ongoing, and are asking anyone with information to contact the robbery unit or Crime Stoppers.
