Rochester, N.Y. — A boxing event scheduled to be held at the home of the Rochester Red Wings has been canceled by organizers, the team announced Tuesday.
The event was slated to be headlined by two-time world heavyweight champion Hasim Rahman, 53, as he kicked off his campaign to become the oldest heavyweight champion in boxing history.

The Red Wings said tickets purchased through the team have already been refunded. Those purchased through a third party will have go to through the original point of purchase for a refund.
No details about what led to the cancellation have been released. The event was originally scheduled for July 14 before being rescheduled to Aug. 18.
A separate boxing event in Rochester, held April 25 at the Blue Cross Arena at the War Memorial, was marred by lower-than-expected attendance and an estimated $100,000 deficit — including late payments to fighters — that organizers have been working to repay.
