The city continues to add star power to the rosters for the upcoming Hockey Night in Brampton charity game, including legendary Toronto Maple Leafs goalie Curtis Joseph.

The fifth-annual installment of the charity fundraiser game is next week and will feature plenty of current and former NHL talent, Hockey Hall of Famers and a free autograph signing meet-and-greet.

The city announced on Tuesday that Curtis “Cujo” Joseph, who played more than 900 regular-season games during his NHL career, will again take part in the game but not as a goaltender.

“At Hockey Night in Brampton, Joseph will take on a different role, leaving the goalie equipment behind to join the action as a skater,” the city said in a release.

Other additions to the game announced on Tuesday include former professional hockey player and actor Terry Ryan, who stars in the Canadian hockey comedy ‘Shoresy,’ CP24’s Steve Ryan, and Brampton Steelheads goaltenders Neilan Johnson and Oskari Ahmajärvi.

Tuesday’s additions join team captain and Toronto MaMorgan Rielly, NHL Hall of Famers Paul Coffey and Mike Modano, Brampton native and former Maple Leaf Phil Oreskovic, local NHL draft pick Ethan Czata, NHL alums Joe Kocur, Ryan Getzlaf and Cody Hodgson, current NHL stars Dylan Strome and Owen Power, and team coaches Doug Gilmour, Wendel Clark and Gary Roberts.

Fans can meet some of the stars and get their jersey signed at a free autograph event before the game gets started.

Coffey, former Anaheim Ducks Captain Ryan Getzlaf and former Detroit Red Wings bruiser Joe Kocur will be available for signings from 6 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., while Hall of Famer Doug Gilmore, former Maple Leaf Captain Wendell Clark and former Leaf Gary Roberts will be signing from 6:30 p.m. to 6:55 p.m.

Hockey Night in Brampton was launched in 2019 by Mayor Patrick Brown and has grown to become Canada’s largest charity hockey game, in support of the William Osler Health System Foundation.

Last year’s game raised a record $6.7 million, with nearly $21 million donated over the last two years and a historic $50-million pledge toward the hospital project. Plans for the upgrade include a new emergency department, expanded outpatient services, and increased capacity to serve a growing population.

The game takes place Wednesday, Aug. 19, at the CAA Centre, with doors opening at 6 p.m. and puck drop scheduled for 7 p.m. Tickets are on sale for $36. For more information and to buy tickets, visit www.hockeynightbrampton.ca.
