Martinsville Speedway will host two NASCAR race weekends in 2027, including a spring return to mid-April and a fall weekend that will again serve as the penultimate race of the NASCAR Cup Series season.
The first race weekend is scheduled for April 16-18, marking a return to mid-April after two consecutive years of March races.
The three-day weekend will begin Friday with the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour, followed by the NASCAR O’Reilly Auto Parts Series on Saturday and the NASCAR Cup Series on Sunday.
Martinsville has been the seventh race on the Cup Series schedule the past two years. It will be the eighth race in 2027.
The fall race weekend is scheduled for Nov. 5-7. The NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series will race Friday, followed by the O’Reilly Auto Parts Series on Saturday and the Cup Series on Sunday.
Martinsville has hosted the second-to-last Cup Series race of the season every year since 2020.
The 2027 season also will mark the speedway’s 80th anniversary. Martinsville opened in 1947 and hosted its first NASCAR Cup Series race in 1949. The track has hosted at least two NASCAR races each year since 1950 and held three races in 1961.
The spring race at Martinsville on March 29 was the 155th NASCAR Cup Series race in the track’s history, putting it second behind Daytona International Speedway, which has hosted 158.
Martinsville officials said every race at the track in 2027 will be part of the 80th anniversary celebration.
“For 80 years, Martinsville Speedway has been the backdrop for some of the most memorable moments in NASCAR history, and we’ll honor that incredible legacy throughout the 2027 season,” Martinsville Speedway President Clay Campbell said in a NASCAR release. “Every event on our schedule will be part of our 80th anniversary celebration, making it a truly special year for our fans, competitors, and everyone who has been a part of Martinsville Speedway’s story. From the excitement of our spring race weekend to the championship intensity that defines our fall races, we look forward to welcoming fans to celebrate this historic milestone with us.”
NASCAR has not yet released the complete 2027 schedule. Individual tracks have announced their race dates, and the first 10 Cup Series races have been set.
The NASCAR Cup Series Clash will return to Daytona International Speedway on Feb. 13 after moving to Bowman Gray Stadium. Daytona will host the Daytona 500 the following weekend.
After Daytona, the Cup Series will visit EchoPark Speedway in Atlanta, Circuit of The Americas in Austin, Texas, Phoenix Raceway and Las Vegas Motor Speedway before taking the final weekend of March off for Easter.
Bristol Motor Speedway will host its spring race weekend April 11 and the Bass Pro Shops Night Race on Aug. 14.
Race dates for Richmond Raceway have not been announced. NASCAR also has not said whether the Cup Series will return to North Wilkesboro Speedway in 2027.
The complete 2027 NASCAR schedules for the Cup, O’Reilly Auto Parts and CRAFTSMAN Truck series, including green-flag times and broadcast networks, will be announced later.
Before the 2027 season begins, NASCAR racing will return to Martinsville for two weekends this fall.
The track will host the annual ValleyStar Credit Union 300 on Sept. 26. NASCAR’s three national series will return Oct. 30-Nov. 1, with Truck Series, O’Reilly Auto Parts Series and Cup Series races scheduled throughout the weekend.
