Police are investigating an early-morning shooting in downtown Cloverdale.

In a press release, the Surrey Police Service (SPS) said shots were fired at 3:52 a.m. on Aug. 12 outside a residence near the intersection of 60th Avenue and 177th Street.

It seems to be the block near Elements Casino, as there is no “177th Street” in the area. The streets run: 176A, 177B, 179th along 60th Avenue from west to east.

Sergeant Ali Gailus, SPS media relations officer, revealed “two people were shot at,” and that one man “sustained a non-life-threatening injury” in the shooting.

“The suspects fled the scene,” Gailus added. “Upon arrival, police located an adult male victim with an injury that did not require medical intervention.”

Gailus noted the SPS Major Crime Section is now running the investigation and the Integrated Forensic Identification Services will be in the area processing physical and digital evidence.

“The investigation is in its early stages however it is believed to be targeted and not extortion related.”

SPS is asking anyone with info, CCTV or or dashcam footage, or who may know the identities of the suspects to call their non-emergency line at 604-599-0502.
