TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – Looking sharp on the outside may not reveal what someone is feeling on the inside.
That thought takes center stage at an upcoming fashion show benefit. Alicia Walker, founder of HEARTS, visited Eye on NE Kansas to share details of the group’s upcoming fashion show fundraiser.
HEARTS stands for Helping Empower Adolescents Reject Thoughts of Suicide. Walker founded the organization following her brother’s death by suicide. She and her family wanted to turn their heartbreak into healing, by giving young people hope, strength, and connection.
HEARTS second annual Speak up, Speak out Mental Health Fashion Show begins at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 5 at The Beacon, 420 SW 9th St.
