RICHMOND, Va. — Hendrick Motorsports heads to Richmond Raceway looking to build on its strong short-track résumé as the NASCAR Cup Series enters a critical stretch with just three races remaining before the Chase begins.
The organization arrives with championship contenders Kyle Larson, Chase Elliott, and William Byron, along with former Richmond winner Alex Bowman, while continuing to pace NASCAR’s record books as the all-time leader in Cup Series wins, poles, top-five finishes, top-10s and laps led.
Kyle Larson enters the weekend seeking a rebound after a difficult outing at Iowa Speedway. Richmond has been one of Larson’s strongest tracks in the Next Gen era, where he ranks among the leaders in laps led and average finish. He also carries an active three-race top-10 streak at the Virginia short track.
Chase Elliott remains seventh in points and continues to be one of the sport’s most consistent short-track performers. The 2020 Cup Series champion scored a short-track victory at Martinsville earlier this season and owns six top-five finishes at Richmond, his most at any track where he has yet to win.
William Byron continues to shine on short tracks. Since the start of 2025, Byron has accumulated some of the strongest numbers in the series on tracks under one mile, highlighted by two short-track victories over the past eight events. Richmond remains one of the tracks Byron has steadily improved at, posting a career-best finish of third in 2022.
Meanwhile, Alex Bowman returns to the site of one of the biggest victories of his career. Bowman captured Ally’s first Richmond Raceway victory in 2021, a win that helped spark his four-win season and remains one of his signature short-track performances.
As an organization, Hendrick Motorsports has won four of the last nine NASCAR Cup Series short-track races and enters Richmond as the all-time leader at the track in top-five and top-10 finishes.
“We’ve had solid runs there,” Bowman said. “Our win in 2021 with Ally will always be special.”
