6-year-old child killed in Abbotsford parking lot collision

A parking lot collision in Abbotsford on Thursday afternoon (Aug. 13) has left a six-year-old boy dead.

Abbotsford Police Department said the incident occurred at approximately 12:45 p.m. in the parking lot of the Allwood Place (32633 Simon Ave.) townhouse complex.

The young pedestrian was reportedly struck by an SUV and died despite life-saving efforts from witnesses and first responders.

The driver remained on-site and is cooperating with authorities as they investigate the circumstances of the tragic incident.

The entrance to the townhouse complex is closed while police conduct the investigation.

“The Abbotsford Police Department extends its heartfelt condolences to the family and loved ones of the child involved in this tragic incident,” said APD media relations officer Sgt. Paul Walker.
