Nanoose Community Services to host golf fundraiser for food program

A round of golf will help put food on the tables of Nanoose Bay residents facing financial hardship when Nanoose Community Services hosts its annual charity tournament next month.
The “Tee Off for NCS” tournament returns to Fairwinds Golf Club on Friday, Sept. 18, with organizers hoping to raise more than $30,000 for the Nanoose Food and Basic Needs Program.
The program provides assistance to local individuals and families struggling to cover the cost of food and other basic necessities.
NCS says demand for its services has been growing as more people find themselves struggling to make ends meet. The organization says those seeking assistance increasingly include working families, seniors and others who may not fit the traditional image of someone relying on food assistance.
The tournament is designed to bring together local businesses, golfers and community supporters for a day on the course while raising money that will remain in the Nanoose community.
Dream Homes Vancouver Island Group and Fairwinds are supporting this year’s tournament as major sponsors. NCS is also seeking local businesses interested in becoming hole sponsors.
NCS is a volunteer- and donation-supported non-profit organization that provides a range of services to the Nanoose Bay community, including its Food and Basic Needs Program, free tax preparation and community outreach initiatives.
The organization says donations allow it to directly support local residents facing difficult circumstances.
