Guildford Recreation Centre to close for maintenance this fall, no pool for 7 weeks

Guildford Recreation Centre, a popular destination for swimming, sports, fitness classes and more, will be closed for “scheduled maintenance” this fall, city hall says.
The busy pool will be closed for seven weeks, from Aug. 31 to Oct. 19, and the gymnasiums will close Sept 12-22 in line with a full facility closure Sept 16-22 (reopening Sept. 23).
“Residents are advised to visit other Surrey recreation centres during these closures, and registered program participants will be notified directly of any impacts to their activities,” says a post on Surrey’s website.
Surrey’s other indoor public pools are located at Surrey Sport & Leisure Complex in Fleetwood, Newton Recreation Centre, South Surrey Indoor Pool and Grandview Heights Aquatic Centre.
The aquatics area at Guildford includes an eight-lane, 50-metre Olympic size competition pool, a leisure pool with a lazy river, spray features and a toddler area, hot tub, water slide and springboard diving, among other features.
Regular hours at Guildford Rec are 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday to Friday, and 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. Drop-in schedules, childminding info and swipe passes/rates are found on surrey.ca, or call 604-501-5100.
