Thursday’s Boundary Trails Health Centre (BTHC) Foundation fundraising tournament at Winkler Centennial Golf Course was, yet again, sold out and a record setter.
“We were a full house, everyone showed up, that we love to see,” reflected Executive Director Shannon Samatte-Folkett. “I think everybody had a really great time.”
Over $115,000 was generated through the event.
“This year we allocated the funds for Building for the Future,” she explained. “As everybody knows, there’s a lot going on at the hospital, there’s a lot of renovations happening. There are going to be shortfalls that need to be met. Building for the Future is there for that reason. When they are near completion, we will be meeting with the hospital and learning what the needs are and filling in those gaps.”

This was the 26th golf tournament hosted by the Foundation, and the 14th Samatte-Folkett has been involved with.
“I really don’t even know how to express thanks, and I’m overwhelmed by it often,” she said. “They have this opportunity to commit ahead of time, and they buy in and we are sold out. It’s kind of sad, you don’t want to turn anybody away, but these people are committed, they believe in what we’re doing, they love the day and we just have to say thank you to them.”

“This year our theme is Survivor, just like the game show on TV,” said Samatte-Folkett. “So, get out your island wear and come out and support us, and learn a little bit more about the Foundation and what we support.”
