The North Dakota State Patrol has reported a possible abduction involving two Manitobans.
On Saturday morning, it was alerted of the possible abduction that had crossed the U.S.-Canadian border into North Dakota.
ND State Patrol says that a 31-year-old Manitoba man had reportedly abducted a 37-year-old man in Winnipeg.
Law enforcement says they worked to narrow down the search area for the suspect and victim, using cameras at multiple locations to identify the vehicle. In the Facebook post, they went on to say that cell phone location information, messages to family and friends, and license plate reader technology ultimately helped locate the two in Alexandria, Minnesota.
Law enforcement says the victim was able to break free and run into a nearby store. The suspect was taken into custody shortly after by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office and local police.
The victim was recovered safely, and the incident remains under investigation.
