Edmonton police said a 16-year-old girl is dead after being found seriously injured Sunday morning.

EPS says officers responded to reports of a shooting around 6:50 a.m. on Aug. 16, near 139 Avenue and 32 Street.

When officers arrived, they found a 16-year-old girl suffering from serious injuries. Officers provided first aid, but the girl was declared dead at the scene by paramedics.

The homicide unit has taken over the investigation and is treating the incident as suspicious.
