Toronto police say human remains were found in Scarborough Sunday afternoon.
In an email to CBC Toronto Sunday evening, Toronto Police Service spokesperson Stephanie Miceli said officers were called for a suspicious incident in the area of Ellesmere Road and Markham Road shortly before 6 p.m.
Upon arrival, officers located what appear to be human remains, she said.
Miceli added the investigation is ongoing and there is no further information to provide at this time.
If the incident is determined to be criminal in nature, Toronto police will provide more information, she said.
Toronto Fire confirmed they attended the scene shortly after 6 p.m. for a medical call.
Toronto paramedics said they also attended the scene shortly after 6 p.m. and were not transporting anyone.
